The purpose of this AMATEUR RADIO KNOWLEDGE quiz is to get you to review what you have already learned or need to know and to take an advance look at what you are about to learn.

These little quizzes are also to help you keep current with Amateur Radio technology and to allow you to assess your knowledge of several concepts with which you will be presented.

In this quiz, choose the answer which is most correct. Some of these will send you to the books for the answers. This is Not TRIVIA ... The trivia quiz is found below.

They may also be questions you will see again in your GENERAL or AMATEUR EXTRA exams.

1. Suppose you wanted to make contact with the ISS (International Space Station) when it makes a "fly over." Which VHF amateur service bands have frequencies available to space stations?

a. 2 meters
b. 2 meters and 1.25 meters

2. Some PVR members will soon install a tower/antenna. The tower/anntenna may be erected in a valley or on top of a ridge. In either case, what height restrictions apply?

PVR Trivia Contest Challenge:

Welcome to the PVR TRIVIA CONTEST CHALLENGE.

What is "trivia", you may ask? Trivia is something that is inessential, unimportant and/or are inconsequential things - trifles. I like to call them ... small facts that don't make or break your day. Trivia are those useless facts you find or hear sometimes. If you want to find some information that's useless, please enter this contest.

Let's have fun with this Trivia Contest Challenge, o.k.? So, here goes -

There will be 6 questions over the next 6 months for a maximum of 60 points. Point schedule is:

1st to get the correct answer to me via email is awarded 10 pts.
2nd to get the correct answer to me via email is awarded 7 pts.
3rd to get the correct answer to me via email is awarded 5 pts.
4th to get the correct answer to me via email is awarded 3 pts.
5th to get the correct answer to me via email is awarded 1 pts.

All answers must come from PVR documents: minutes of meetings, FYI notices, articles from the Richland Observer, heard over WRCO, or other PVR sources.
You must state in which form of media and/or source you found your answer.
Your answers must be Emailed to W9JR at redstamper()mwt.net no later than the appearance of the next monthly question. After that, your answer will be null and void.
I have determined from which media the answers come. (If there is a dispute --- mine will be the correct one.)

There will be a Certificate issued to the person earning the most points in the First Session of Trivia. The 2007 contest ended in a tie between Andrew Rinehart (KC9GPB) and Shawn Rockland (KC9KOP). Congratulations to these interested and involved hams.
