The PURPOSE of the PVR organization

---- is to promote the interest of and active participation in amateur radio, emergency communications and public service, and to recruit, train, and maintain a crew of Amateur Radio Operators who are ready to furnish communication services in a time of need.

Our MISSION

---- is to offer our members a means of demonstrating and sharing their knowledge, skills, and experiences in Amateur Radio with others, which is accomplished through support of local and national Amateur Radio events and drills, conducting licensing classes, and training in emergency communications procedures.

FCC Part 97.1 - Basis and Purpose:

The rules and regulations in this Part are designed to provide an amateur radio service having a fundamental purpose as expressed in the following principles:
• Recognition and enhancement of the value of the amateur service to the public as a voluntary noncommercial communication service, particularly with respect to providing emergency communications.
• Continuation and extension of the amateur's proven ability to contribute to the advancement of the radio art.
• Encouragement and improvement of the amateur service through rules which provide for advancing skills in both the communications and technical phases of the art.
• Expansion of the existing reservoir within the amateur radio service of trained operators, technicians, and electronics experts.
• Continuation and extension of the amateur's unique ability to enhance international goodwill.

Monthly Meetings, 2008

• Our regular monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month. If there is a change, you will be notified. Our meeting schedule for the rest of 2008 looks like this:

April 17 May 15 June 19 July 17 August 21 September 18 October 16 November 20 December 18 EVENTS: April 17, 2008 Todd Shea of the La Crosse NWS will be at the 17th meeting to present a program on "WEATHER RADAR INTERPRETATION". This should be of interest to all PVR members. April 21, 2008 There will be a SKYWARN class held at the Richland Center Armory beginning at 6:30 p.m. Plan to be there early as these classes are very popular events. May 10, 2008 The Yellowthunder ARC of Sauk County will be conducting a FOX HUNT beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the Baraboo High School. PVR will participate. A potluck picnic will be held at the Park after the event. May 30-31, 2008 The first of two BRAT SALES at Ed's Family Foods will be conducted by PVR. Proceeds from one of the sales will be given to our "Walk With Grace" team. Set up at 9:00 a.m. -- serving at 10:00 a.m. June 10, 2008 A WORK DAY has been scheduled to get our equipment/gear ready for use. For those who can help, please report to Bob's home. Work to begin at 9:00 a.m. June 28-29, 2008 The '08 ARRL sponsored FIELD DAY has been scheduled, and will be held in the vacant lot on Orange St. between the Depot (Chamber of Commerce) and the Richland Center Municipal Building. PVR will participate in this national event. We expect to have a large contingent of PVR members to man the several operating stations. The public is cordially invited to visit our site to learn more about Amateur Radio. June 28-29, 2008 PVR will have Storm Spotters stationed on the grounds of the STAR SPANGLED CELEBRATION concert. They will be available to provide storm spotters if required. July 24-25, 2008 This is the SECOND of two Brat Sales. This will be a Thursday/Friday event. Proceeds from this sale will be given to the PVR "Walk With GRACE" team to be donated to GRACE, Inc. August 8-9, 2008 Our PVR "WALK WITH GRACE" team will be participating in the 5th annual event sponsored by GRACE, Inc. The event will take place in Krouskop Park in Richland Center, WI. Please support your team. ADDENDUM: Our team did very well in raising money for cancer patients and research. Our total was more than $3,000.00. We would like to break the $4,000.00 mark this year. August 9, 2008 The CIRCUS CITY HAMFEST will be held in Baraboo. Contact is Bill Klinker, K9XXX, 608-643-6908. More on this event later. August 23,2008 PVR will be serving as radio communications during the 4th annual Symons "FAMILY FUN RUN WALK" sponsored by the UW-Richland Symons Recreation Complex. The run will begin and end at the UW-Richland Campus. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals will be awared. More on this event when information is provided. September 26-28 The 27th Annual ARRL AND TAPR DCC (DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE will be held in the Holiday Inn Hotel, Elk Grove Village, IL near Chicago's O'Hare Airport. The DCC is an international forum for radio amateurs interested in the digital voice and data modes to meet, publish their work, and present new ideas and techniques. Presenters and attendees will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and learn about recent hardware and software advances, theories, experimental results, and practical applications. Technical sessions are presented all day Friday & Saturday and Introductory sessions are on Saturday. More information available at: http://www.tapr.org/dcc.html October 25-26 The State ARES/RACES annual convention will be held on this date. PVR will send representatives to the Conference. The annual conference will be in the Mead Hotel in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Please join us for the tenth annual ARES/RACES Conference! This year's conference is open to everyone interested in ARES/RACES, including EMS, NWS, and other private disaster relief personnel.
