The PURPOSE of the PVR organization

---- is to promote the interest of and active participation in amateur radio, emergency communications and public service, and to recruit, train, and maintain a crew of Amateur Radio Operators who are ready to furnish communication services in a time of need.

Our MISSION

---- is to offer our members a means of demonstrating and sharing their knowledge, skills, and experiences in Amateur Radio with others, which is accomplished through support of local and national Amateur Radio events and drills, conducting licensing classes, and training in emergency communications procedures.

FCC Part 97.1 - Basis and Purpose:

The rules and regulations in this Part are designed to provide an amateur radio service having a fundamental purpose as expressed in the following principles:
• Recognition and enhancement of the value of the amateur service to the public as a voluntary noncommercial communication service, particularly with respect to providing emergency communications.

• Continuation and extension of the amateur's proven ability to contribute to the advancement of the radio art.

• Encouragement and improvement of the amateur service through rules which provide for advancing skills in both the communications and technical phases of the art.

• Expansion of the existing reservoir within the amateur radio service of trained operators, technicians, and electronics experts.

• Continuation and extension of the amateur's unique ability to enhance international goodwill.

Monthly Meetings, 2012

• Our regular monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month. If there is a change, you will be notified. Our meeting schedule for 2012 looks like this:

Have you ever gone to an event with what you thought was a fully charged battery ... only to find out that it wasn't? Perhaps this was because you OVERCHARGED the battery by leaving it on the charger too long and did some internal damage to the battery. This has happened! If you want to prevent this from happening, GO HERE. This site will tell where you can find information about a Universal Battery Charger. Know within seconds the capacity of your battery. Never go into the field with a battery that does not have the required minimum capacity. This charger was demonstrated at a recent Club meeting, and it will let you know when the battery has been fully charged. If you have HT's of different makes, you can purchase a battery "cup" especially for the battery required. According to W&W Manufacturing, "Even a Neanderthal can operate it!" EVENTS: Regular Sunday evening PVR NET - 9:00 pm All licensed hams are welcome to check in to our net. 146.91 (- offset), PL 131.8. We hope to hear from you. 3rd Saturday - every month - 7:00 pm The PVR Simplex Net - 146.580 (no PL) is conducted by Net Control Shawn Rockland, KC9KOP. Everyone who is a licensed ham is welcome to the NET. April 9, 2012. A Skywarn Class sponsored by NWS La Crosse. A Storm Spotting class will be held on Monday, April 9 at 6:30 pm in the Richland Center High School Auditorium. All are welcome. June 28 - 29, 2012 The first of two BRAT SALES at Ed's Family Foods will be conducted by PVR. Proceeds from this sale will be given to our "Walk With Grace" team. Set up at 9:00 a.m. -- serving from 10:00 until 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. June 22 - 23, 2012 The 2012 ARRL sponsored FIELD DAY has been scheduled, and will be held in the vacant lot on Orange St. between the Depot (Chamber of Commerce) and the Veteran's Memorial Park. PVR will participate in this national event. We expect to have a large contingent of PVR members to man the several operating stations. The public is cordially invited to visit our site to learn more about Amateur Radio. June 21 - 22 - 23, 2012 PVR will have Storm Spotters available in the event hazardous weather approaches during the STAR SPANGLED CELEBRATION concert. They will be available to activate if required. (Pending) In October, 2011, PVR cooperated with the Viroqua ARC in activating St. Feriole Island in Prairie du Chien for the U.S. Islands Program. During 2012, dates unknown at present, PVR/Viroqua will activate two, possibly three, Wisconsin River islands for the program. August 10, 2012 Our PVR "WALK WITH GRACE" team will be participating in the 8th annual event sponsored by GRACE, Inc. As noted, this will be a one day affair this year. The event will take place in Krouskop Park in Richland Center, WI. Please support your team. ADDENDUM: Our team did very well in raising money for cancer patients and research. Our total was more than $3,000.00. We would like to break the $4,000.00 mark this year. (Pending) The CIRCUS CITY HAMFEST will be held in Baraboo. This is a new date for this event. (Pending) PVR will be serving as radio communications during the 5th annual Symons "FAMILY FUN RUN WALK" sponsored by the UW-Richland Symons Recreation Complex. The run will begin and end at the UW-Richland Campus. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals will be awared. More on this event when information is provided. (Pending) The State ARES/RACES annual convention will be held on this date. PVR will send representatives to the Conference. The annual conference will be in held ????. Please join us for the 11th annual ARES/RACES Conference! This year's conference is open to everyone interested in ARES/RACES, including EMS, NWS, and other private disaster relief personnel. More information on this event will be provided when it is received. Please check back. We hope to see you there! September 21 - 22, 2012 This is the SECOND of two Brat Sales.
