On Sunday, June 8, it began to rain ... and it rained ... and it rained until at last it stopped with northern Iowa and central and southwest Wisconsin completely flooded.
The communities of Viola, LaFarge, Avoca, Lone Rock, and Spring Green experienced floods the likes of which they had never seen before.
In Sauk County, flood waters washed a new channel between Lake Delton and the Wisconsin River resulting in the lake being completely drained.
Here are some photos showing the flood waters.
As webmaster of the W9PVR Webpage, I thought I would add a photo of where my radio experience began. I attended the U.S. Navy Radio School in Bainbridge, MD for 6 months in 1953. It was an awesome school. I then served in the Communications Department (Radioman) onboard the USS Siboney, CVE-112, part of an Anti-Submarine Warfare Task Group (Hunter/Killer) during the Korean War. I communicated via radio ship-to-ship, ship-to-airplane, and ship-to-shore. It was a great experience. USNTC Bainbridge is no longer in existence, but here is the photo of our Radio School:

The Pine Valley Repeater ARC is involved with many community projects. PVR has been assigned a 1.5 mile section of Highway 80 north of Richland Center as its segment for Roadside Cleanup. Twice a year, spring and fall, members of the Club clean up the clutter that is thrown from passing vehicles. Bags of aluminum cans that have been picked up is also a means of adding to the PVR treasury. The 2012 spring cleanup has recently been completed.
Justin, a young ham "wannabe", assisted with the cleanup.
After collecting 6 full bags of trash, and 2 full bags of cans, we are at the end of a long day!
